Briefly. Then, after an extensive UK tour with The Undertones, a now near legendary appearance at Oxegen, live TV performances, Radio Sessions, constant Local, National and International Airplay, and many sleepless nights, they knew the time had come again. “We Are The Way Forward” is giveamanakick’s second album. Recorded in a flurry of furious activity over six consecutive days, its creative process included a 13 hour van journey, a banjo (Steve), a sweater vest (Keith), and a crash which resulted in the writing off of “Fergus”, giveamanakick’s once trusty vehicle. In these six days, giveamanakick created an intensely barbed and viciously precise second album. They have captured the frenetic energy, the wilful mayhem, and the sheer… noise of their live performance, and stuck it on a shiny CD in the guise of 12 brand new songs. With songs such as “Suffer The Gowls”, “Red Faced Killers”, “Sick From Motion” and “Spit”, giveamanakick’s sound has not mellowed in these past two years. “We Are The Way Forward” deals with everything giveamanakick want to deal with. Their third studio album, called: “Welcome to the Cusp” featured the songs “Borrowed Time” which has a music video available on the internet, and “Brittle Bones” which was featured on an ad’ for CSI on RTE. On 17th of August 2009 giveamanakick announced that after seven years they were, in fact, dead meat. The announcement of their shutting down was on twitter and myspace with a link to this videoed statement: |http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rJrFwntaons&feature=player_embedded |
