Gönül Yazar is a popular Turkish singer and actress. She is one of the most famous Turkish entertainers of all time with a peak in 1960’s and 1970’s. Her sister Belkıs Özener is also a famous singer.
Gonul Yazar was born in the port city of Izmir on 12 August 1940. At the age of 14, she won a singing competition called “Ege Ses Kraliçesi Yarışması” (Vocal Queen of the Aegean). She married her husband Necdet Yazar who pushed her to fame through Ankara Radio. She has released 18 music albums and acted in more than 40 films.| |
