Famous band from Venezuela that plays Gaitas Zulianas, formed in Maracaibo, Zulia in 1960, was originally touted as a rebel band against the traditional way of playing Gaitas, and later became a landmark of the genre. Legendary salsa group started playing traditional folklore in the 1960s, later turning to tropical style. As the band was getting involved in the local scene, a growing number of followers made them one of the most popular acts all over the country. Led by singer Gustavo Aguado, the 22-piece act had the opportunity to go beyond Venezuelan frontiers while releasing its music in the U.S. and Europe in the late ’90s. |
