What can be expected of two friends that leave a successful band to create their own? Why would they leave? Where are they going? What can they really hope to accomplish? These seemingly fateful questions were what loomed over the heads of Lou Everatt and Eddie Williams when they decided to break out and create their own musical path. These questions however were insignificant to the two. Their only desire was to create music they loved, their fate as musicians was never a concern.
The first logical step was to record a demo, so with music in mind and guitars in hand the two headed into Ridge Recording studio with Justin Chapman to lay down what would later be known as “Tender Branson Is Something Terrible”. This recording served as a test beacon. It was an idea, a sound. They had no vocalist. They had no drummer. All they had was an idea and a driving determination to make this new project a success.
What followed in the next few months were tryouts. The band needed a vocalist and after posting their demo on the Internet guys and girls alike were sending in auditions. Enter Ben Brown who had been in local bands around the area but at the time wasn’t pursuing any musical direction. After hearing the demo, Brown knew he had found his next project. He submitted his audition and signed on as the vocalist for Halfway To The Moon. |What was still missing from the band was their backbone. They needed a drummer and bassist to complete their evolving sound. These positions were filled with talented musicians who were also good friends. Lou and Ed’s buddy Scott Swindels stepped in to assume bass duties. His dedication to the band was never questioned as he had sat through countless band practices and recording time before he was even a part of Halfway To The Moon. A drummer wasn’t hard to locate either. Brown’s friend and previous band mate Ben Smith brought his solid yet tasteful style of drumming to the table and Halfway To The Moon was finally complete.
After only being together 4 months the band has already released their first EP entitled “On Canvas” and have gained a strong following of fans and friends with their DIY mentality and hard work ethic. What they bring to the table is an ever-relentless desire to play music they love. It seems that this world is only satisfied with being the biggest and the best. Halfway To The Moon is only concerned with being your friend and borrowing your ears.
