I Was a Cub Scout was a two-man synthpop band from Long Bennington and Collingham, in Nottinghamshire, England, consisting of William Bowerman and Todd Marriott. Formed in 2006, the band gained popularity through increased airplay on BBC Radio 1 and MTV 2. I Was a Cub Scout was originally a one-man band, consisting solely of Todd Marriott. Lacking a drummer, Marriott used a drum machine to create the sound. William Bowerman joined the band in mid 2006, and has played drums until their split. The band spent about six months playing house parties and night clubs in England, their exposure gaining them some popularity. They also maximized their exposure by touring extensively, playing in the 2007 Carling and Download Festivals, as well as embarking on a tour with DARTZ!. On 6th June 2008, lead singer Todd Marriott announced their split via Myspace bulletin. He blamed “countless problems” and said it was “a very sad day”. |
