Kristi’s poetic lyrics evoke primordial mythology, alluding to imaginary landscapes, sun worship, bright passions and things eternal. Composer and multi-instrumentalist Stathis Kalyviotis was born and grew up in Athens. In 1981 Stathis formed one of the first Greek punk groups, the internationally unknown “Anipofori” (The Unbearables), the first punk band singing in Greek. During the 80s he cooperated with some of the most important groups of the Greek independent rock music scene (Echo Tatoo, Low Noise, Enouma Elis) In the late 80s, he started cooperating with Greek singer-lyricist Kristi Stassinopoulou. Together with Kristi, with the drummer Vangelis Vekios and guitarist Kostis Anagnostopoulos they formed “Selana”, an underground band with an “ethnopunk” sound, also often performing as the support group of the late Pavlos Sidiropoulos. Beginning of the ’90s Stathis started using also traditional string instruments and experimenting with electronics and live looping. He is the composer, arranger and co-producer of Kristi Stassinopoulou’s albums, “taxidoscopio”, “The Secrets of the Rocks” , “Echotropia” and “Ifantokosmos”, in which he has played electric and acoustic guitars, saz, laouto, bass, baglamas, keyboards, groove sampler and percussion. These albums of international appeal resulted to frequent appearances of Stathis, Kristi and their band in festivals and clubs around the world. He has also cooperated with the Cologne/Germany based band “Schall Sick Brass Band”. http://www.krististassinopoulou.com/ |
