Born and raised in Savannah , their inspiration and love for music was instilled in them from their mother Jackie Battey. They were exposed to the old sounds of Motown, like Marvin Gaye, Temptations & Al Green. Based on their old school roots and new school interests the Jackie Boyz developed their own sound. At the very early ages of 15 and 18 tragedy had touched Carlos and Steven’s life by losing their mother Jackie to cancer, after this the boyz decided to dedicate their music careers to their mother and named the group Jackie Boyz. Tragedy has taught the boys to never forget the true things in life. They immediately reached out to their community on the west side of Savanna, and began involving them selves in projects that would help rebuild parts of the neighborhood and assist with others in need. Through the early stages of their development they came in contact with the aspiring artist Justin Holley, who was working with award winning producer Mickey Stevenson of Motown Records in Los Angeles, California . Mickey wanted to put a group together and based on their natural talents and abilities he asked them to come to L.A. Soon after their arriving they became members of the group “Remedy” and started a local tour in the L.A area performing at local clubs and venues. They also went on tour with the Funk Brothers, sang backup for Smokey Robinson and wrote songs with Blu Cantrell. Shortly after the tour, the group decided to do solo projects and the Jackie Boyz began their career as a duo. Jackie Boyz have now teamed up with the powerful management team of Baby G Music, guided by award winning manager Rachel Noelle and they are gearing up to release their EP. Their style and sound has captured a lot of interest from the industry as everyone awaits their release. Their music will provide you with a new and innovative sound to dance to and their ability to sing, write and dance will prove why their talents separate them from the rest. The Jackie Boyz inspiration in life is to carry on the memory of their mother through their music and to touch the hearts and souls of their fans……Southern Style. |
