Jeremy Mayhew (born 1976) is an audio/visual artist living on the Island of Martha’s Vineyard. His films and motion-graphics work have won awards and praise internationally. After a childhood obsession with music and fine art, Jeremy attended The University of The Arts in Philadelphia where he focused most of his creative energies on traditional filmmaking and animation (with 16mm cameras, reel-to-reel recorders, flatbed editing tables and so on). This base cinematic language, coupled with an ongoing interest in 4-track players, delay pedals, homemade instruments, and improvisational jazz, led him into a playful relationship with electronic music production. Jeremy has an affinity for downtempo, ambient, hip-hop, jazz, post-rock, folk and electronic music. Jeremy Mayhew’s musical work typically utilizes samples lifted from various sources including old films, as well as from his own vocals, beat-box, guitar, trombone or ambient recordings. He often works as a freelance motion graphics designer and continues to create films & music. |
