After working for four years with a German label in the rock/pop direction under the name “Julie Thompson” (her actual birth name) Julie felt it was necessary for her to branch out alone and give herself some time to experiment in new areas of music that would offer her new inspiration. These two months caged in one studio led to 15 new exciting ideas influenced heavily by her new found curiosity for synthesizer and alternative sounds. Still working on this new found wave Julie has begun creating herself an interesting crossover, soaking her enchanting pop melodies with electronic elements. With a new style growing, a new identity was also forming. Her previous background had always been of rock/pop orientation but with a new direction in sight Julie felt it only natural to also take on a new name. J’Unique pronounced Joonique originated from her nick name “Joo” which sometimes evolved into Joonique through word play amongst friends. Therefore Julie decided to take on her nickname more seriously and thus J’Unique was born.|Surrounded by successful musicians working in the electronic club scene motivated Julie immensely, and those in this scene, on hearing Julie’s new ideas, enthusiastically encouraged her to take it a step forward and work on realizing these ideas. At this point Mario Götzenberger stepped in, whose creative influence through his mixing and production skills pushed Julie’s work on to the next level. Inspired by her ideas Mario embarked on developing certain elements in the songs to enhance the songs potential, thus exciting Julie to work further with the involvement of other keen musicians. As a result her project continues to evolve in this nature, whilst always on the look out for new partners to offer fresh input.|Amongst her immediate future plans, J’Unique is quite keen to ‘get out there’ and promote the material to the people. Performing live is an equal passion for her and having spent almost a year working in the studio is desperate to be let loose and hit the road again, to showcase her new songs to everyone. Especially to those who showed her so much support in the past and hear their opinion of her new alternative style.|In the meantime, here’s a taster of the new world of J’Unique. | |
