1. US Indie group Seth Roberts (formerly of Watashi Wa) emerges with his latest project, Lakes. Featuring a melodic indie rock sound in the same vein as bands like Mae and former labelmate Copeland, Roberts diverges from Watashi Wa musically, while retaining a songwriting style that focuses on life, love, and hope. Photographs EP was officially released in September of 2006 on The Militia Group. UK Post-Hardcore group Formed in 2005 in Canterbury, UK. 4-piece (Vocals, Guitar, Bass, Drums) post-hardcore band featuring ex-members of Winter in June (other members have gone on to be in Gallows). Released debut CDEP in February 2007 through Signature Tune and split 10” with Brighton boys Zettasaur in December 2007. In the previous year the band have played shows with So So Modern, The Young Knives, Gallows, Charlottefield and even the NYHC legends Gorilla Biscuits. In 2008 a split cdep has been released with Honey Ride Me A Goat on the superb record label, Unlabel. |3. Sean Bailey’s Solo Project, Melbourne based. Lakes is Melbourne musician and artist Sean Bailey, whose musical pedigree extends from roots in mid-90s Tasmanian hardcore to Melbourne groups as notable and diverse as Ninetynine, the Vivian Girls, George W. Bush, Flesh Vs Venom and many others. Since 2002, Sean has been performing by himself or with occasional guests as Lakes, using distorted drum machines, casio keyboards, guitar and percussion to create a world of intriguing, angular, at times dissonant pop hits. |
