Lords Assistants: You wouldnt believe how often we have to answer this No there isnt any meaning and we are not religious. We just decided for this name, because of the irony. Tell us a brief history of Lords Assistants. How was the band formed and why? Lords Assistants: We were 3 school friends and met to play songs of our favorite band Depeche Mode. Just for fun. Are there any other reasons? We were no musicians, we just tried and we still just try. When I wrote the first song, Christian and Alex played some melodies and so the band was born. One year later we changed our band name and got the first gig. So we invested more time to get better results. It took 3 years, until the Song Behind his Words was released on a Newcomer-Sampler. Later Alex left the band, because he got a new job in another city. So a further cooperation was not needed. Your first album Thoughts & Memories is complete. How long did it take to complete the album and what was it like recording? Are you already working on the next release? Lords Assistants: It took 4 years to finish. So Thoughts & Memories seems to be a best of LA. A few songs on this LP were written 4 years ago, and we finally completed the rest. Anytime you reach a point where you cant improve a song its time to make a decision. So we decided to release these songs. Now were concentrating to promote this first album, and of course were working on new material. We promise the second LP won’t take 4 years. What hardware or software was used in the creation of Thoughts & Memories? Care to tell us the process of putting together a track from start to finish? Lords Assistants: We got just 2 real synthesizers. Korg Microkorg and a Yamaha Cs1x. But we use them only to perform live. And of course we use some softsynths and Cubase SX to arrange. Normally I create the Lyrics and demo-arrangements, and Chris frames all the sounds to complete a song. It just happens, we dont talk about it. There isnt a fixed process. What are you doing these days to promote the music of Lords Assistants besides promoting the band on Myspace? Lords Assistants: The best promotion for a band is their songs and you will either like them or not. Anything else is unimportant. So we try to make our songs available. The first step taken was the chance to be played on Infused Radio and were looking into more radio play on other stations. We will present our CD at an online-shop next and we are going to organize some release parties and possibly support some bands live. But we realize, its a long way and we are still at the start. We dont reach for the stars, not yet. Our feature for this week is a slow but good one by Lords Assistants and its called Once More. Can you tell us a little bit about this song? I know you were surprised when I told you that its my favorite from the band. Lords Assistants: Oh yes we were very surprised. We didnt expect such a reaction. Normally people just talk about Stau im Hauptstrom and Getting Lost. Once more is one of these songs, you write during grey days. Its about chains of the past and displacement. It surrounds you all the time. But I rather not explain all of the song… Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. Are there any last words to the Infused Radio listeners? Lords Assistants: …Just stay infused! |
