Love, Robot started as a Metalcore/Hardcore band among Junior High friends Jon Biegen (Vocals/Synth), Brandon Hom (Drums) and Matt Clunie (Guitar) in 2004. They played many venues and backyard shows around Long Island and established themselves in the local Hardcore scene. Eventually they were featured in line-ups that included bands such as Bela Kiss, Emmure and Dr. Acula. The trio recorded a self-titled 5 song demo. In 2005 John Davies joined the band as their first bassist. A year later Love, Robot dropped their hardcore sound and began writing more mellow indie-based songs. The most notable song from this period of the bands existence is titled “Suckapunch”. Demos and rough recordings exist of “Suckapunch” and other songs but nothing has ever been publicly released. Alexa San Roman was a local singer/songwriting who was friends with Brandon Hom and Jon Biegen and in late 2006 Biegen asked her to join the band. With San Roman the sound of Love, Robot changed yet again, “Phonecalls & Faceplants”, “Go Get ‘Um” and “The Fine Print” were released on a Demo called “Five Finger Discount Disk”, which got a great response from friends and fans from the local scene. “Phonecalls & Faceplants” was featured on Quickstar Productions’ “Rock 4 Life, Volume 10”. In December 2007 John Davies left the band and was replaced by bassist Joe Bongiorno. Love, Robot has shared the stage with acts such as Patent Pending, Sing It Loud, The Morning Of, A Rocket to the Moon, 1997, Secret Secret Dino Club! We Are the In Crowd and The Sleeping. Between 2008 and 2010 the band went through various member changes. Taylor Schwab replaced Joe Bongiorno in early 2009. Sean Murphy was added as an additional guitarist in June of 2009 so that Biegen and San Roman could focus more on vocals and crowd interaction. In April 2010 Brandon Hom quit Love, Robot due to creative differences. He currently releases music under the name Quinn The Eskimo. Anthony Rega was officially added to the line-up in late 2010 after a series of temporary drummers filled in. The band has released 2 Demos, 3 EPs, 2 Singles and 2 Covers and Remixes. Paperfork EP was released on January 8th, 2008, 2009 EP was released on September 20th, 2009 and Looking Down at The Stars was released on February 8th, 2011. LDATS had two official singles “Things You Do” and “Lighthouse”, each single has its own music video. http://loverobotonline.wordpress.com/ |
