1- Mandingo is the name of a fake exotica group from the ’70s created by studio musicians (Geoff Love & His Orchestra) and producers. Together they mixed African rhythms and percussion with progressive rock, funk and jazz. They released several albums on EMI. 2- Bill Laswell project called Mandingo Band members: Bill Laswell, Foday Musa Suso, Jeff Bova and Nicky Skopelitis |A Bill Laswell world / funk / jazz fusion experiments, Mandingo are a supergroup of sorts featuring legendary Gambian griot Foday Musa Suso on kora, percussion, and vocals; Laswell on bass; and Jeff Bova and Nicky Skopelitis on keyboards and programming. The result of mixing their disparate styles is an upbeat Afro-funk sound perfectly suited for dancefloors from New York City to West Africa. Eclectic and accessible. 3- Mandingo is Jorge Guerrero, a Dj/producer from Tijuana Mex. He started in the begining of this century, influenced by the sounds of this border town. Finding his real passion with extreme sounds taken from industrial, death metal and hardcore and incomporating them into his music and his setlists witch are heavily laced with dark-psy-trance and many obscure movie and television audio samples. He is currently working on his debut album ‘Pit of lies’ to be relased on Pierroth records in mid-2007. The demo version of one of the first songs ‘Punishment beat’ has surfaced but it is by no means a final product. Jorge started his musical path at 15 when his father gave him a cheap acustic guitar, this started an affair with rock music that lasted for 8 years passing through the short lived bands ‘the insaniacs’, ‘parrallel stars’, ‘Placer’, ‘Runa’, ‘Declive’ and ‘B.O.Y.’. In between these adventures, Jorge was captivated by the electronic sounds eminating from England, Germany and Israel, exploring the worlds of Deep trance, techno, Goa and Psy Trance. Mixing these influences with the sound he had heard exploting out of Chicago and Detroit in the late 80’s he found a voice for his debauchery. Calling himself ‘Dr. Redundant’ he started mixin these styles, and leaving dance floors bloody and desolate. This, as it seams, did not sit very well with Jorge, who originally sout out to disturb, but soon repented with his first Psy trance experience where he received new found clarity in his pourpouse and a real voice with witch to connect to the people. That day, on that mountain, in the forest, Mandingo was born. |4- Mandingo is a dance act produced by MC Bones, Oliver Momm and Benjamin. They recorded the hits “I’d Do Anything For Love”, “This Is A Feelin” and “A Rhythm Divine”.| |
