Marel is one of Dominican Republic’s new crop of gifted young artists. With his debut album, De Papel (2006), Marel earned the respect of the musical scene in Santo Domingo, his hometown. While pursing a career in Cinematography, Marel lived and performed for several years in Spain . He came back to his country to initiate a musical career at a professional level, close to his roots. His sound is a mix of rock, soul, flamenco and alternative latin music, the product of the different influences he has received throughout the years and the variety of his international experiences. A singer since the age of 4, Marel writes and composes all of his songs; his lyrics are charged both with emotion and substance. |
