MarineVille (NZ) are a Wellington rock group currently working on their 3rd album. Inspired by classic 1960’s song-writing (The Beach Boys, The Velvet Underground) through to the sprawling epics of Australia’s The Dirty Three the band balances out it’s songs with passages of improvisation, sometimes turning a 3 minute pop song into a 10 minute jam. Their previous releases have included Ready for the Dance (Oak Park Records, 2001) and Diving the Wreck (Involve Records, 2004). In UK, The Wire magazine praised Ready for the Dance’s “prominent, ragged guitars … amassing then releasing vivid, intense bursts of energy”.
