Based out of the many towns in Northern Delaware Morning abroad has gone thru many changes thru there history as a band. In the beginning the line up consisted of: Zach Thomas(screams), Nick Matos(guitar, backup vox), Louis Matos (drums), Andy Gotschall (guitar), and Steve Jumps (bass). Zach and Steve came from the recently deceased post hardcore band CROWNHEART RUIN. Morning abroad started out as a Rock/Post Hardcore unit. The live show was where they shined. The raw power and emotion that the screams of Zach Thomas created was unmatched by anything in the delaware valley, even outshining his previous success’ as crownheartruins front man. Morning Abroad took a more technical approach to there music, then previous bands in the area. They always had catchy guitar riffs, and funky bass lines. They shared the stage with bands such as, Fear Before The March Of Flames, Bear vs. Shark, One Dead Three Wounded, just to note a few. They ended up releasing one cd “This Ghost Town Talks” with the current line up. In the month of august 2005, there line up took a big hit. Bassist Steve Jumps and Vocalist Zach Thomas, both decided to leave the band. This left The rest of the members in a tight spot. They decided to bring in Andy Gotschall’s brother in to play bass, while also holding auditions for a new vocalist. Jake Gotschall turned out to be the permanent bassist for the band. but the decision was reached that there was going to be no new vocalist for morning abroad, and Nick Matos would continue playing guitar but would now also take over all vocal responsibilities. This is where the entire sound Morning Abroad was known for was changed. They stopped playing shows for a while. and started writting new songs. The new sound was borderline Coheed and Cambria. Gone were the screams of old. And in were the psuedo claudio sanchez vocal style. They released two new songs, on the new defunct Tenfold Records comptilation. They continued constantly preforming all over the region. They have now stopped playing shows under the name morning abroad. and all the members are currently writting music together under the name the great valley. Zach Thomas is now apart of the Southern/Prog rock band BUFFALO|Steve Jumps played in the the Metal/Hardcore band the MEDIA for a short time. |
