Movetron was founded in 1994 by Finnish producers Timo Löyvä and Jukka Tanttari and the female singer Päivi Lepistö. They made a controversial decision to write their songs in Finnish which naturally prevented them from succeeding abroad, but at the same time made them very big in their home country Finland. Their second and third albums sold over 50.000 copies. In 1998 they decided to take a break since their chart success had decreased considerably. |In 1999 they released their first track in English entitled “Voodoo Man”. It resembled a lot songs that Reset and E-Type released in this period. The fourth album 4th Dimension was released in 2000 but failed to succeed and the band split up.
In 2007, Movetron were asked to do a comeback for “Back to Ysäri” tour. Päivi performed alone and the demand for their old singles increased which led the band to consider a real comback. They decided to try it out by redoing an old single. This seemed to work out well so the band started working on new material and signed a deal with Universal Music in autumn 2007. The new single “Ei kenenkään maa” (No man’s land) was released prior to the greatest hits album “Irtokarkkeja - Makeimmat hitit”. A new album, also called “Ei kenenkään maa”, was released late 2008.
