Must have been Tokyo delivers a pretty frenetic sound and performance. The five-piece from Berne, Switzerland, toured half Europe before recording their new album Vice. Instead of wasting big money for studio time and perfect acoustics, they decided to go literally underground: A project studio was set up in the basement of a large and uninviting industry building. The ambience of their project-studio must have contributed to the result. Vice sounds more lugubrious and darker than anything the band has done before. Creg Calbi, who had worked together with David Bowie or Talking Heads, mastered the album. |
