Noori’s members include Ali Noor on vocals and lead and Ali Hamza on bass. Noori’s music balances traditional Urdu, (with the exception of 2, which are in Punjabi) lyrics with rock music.|The group released their first album, Suno Ke Mein Hun Jawan, in 2003 and it proved to be extremely successful in Pakistan.|Many of the songs on Noori’s debut album, Suno Ke Mein Hun Jawan, had developed a cult following before the album’s actual release due to leaks on the internet. These leaks led to the high public anticipation of the album and contributed to it’s success.|Suno Ke Mein Hun Jawan offers a variety of sounds ranging from folk to hard rock anthems. It’s optimistic, with songs urging listeners to change the world, that life is beautiful and women are empowered.|Noori’s second album, Peeli Patti Aur Raja Jani Ki Gol Dunya (2005) is relatively different from the first starting in a somewhat hopeful mood, traveling through bitter experiences and ending up with a resigned despair. With a variety of subjects, such as drug abuse, and the collective apathy we have descended into as individuals and as a society, Noori have proved that they are not a one-album-wonder. |
