Since the beginning of hip-hop, Queens has been a factory for producing quality DJs and MCs. But not all of them are Nyce. Hailing from South Side, Jamaica, Queens, Nyce has been in an MC in the hip-hop game for over 5 years. He started rhyming by listening to a lot of the classic albums from some of hip-hop’s favorite artists: Mobb Deep, Nas, Wu-Tang Clan, Biggie and 2Pac. These artists inspired Nyce to start freestyling into a hand-held tape recorder. From cassettes to park battles to shows, Nyce wound up in the hands of one of his all-time favorites: rapper/producer Havoc from Mobb Deep. This not only gave Nyce his Infamous/G-Unit affiliation, but also allowed him to work with such artists as Mobb Deep, Tony Yayo, DJs Whoo Kid, Absolut, Envy and Big Mike. Now, Nyce comes at you with his new mixtape, “Natural Born: Volume 1” hosted by DJ Scarface. This 24-track mixtape, with features from 40Glocc, Gotti, Tony Yayo, Mobb Deep, Monster, and Un Pachino, is Nyce’s official introduction of himself to the game, “I wanted to take it to the top, to the mainstream, and let everybody get to know Nyce.” And that’s exactly what’s happening: whether on piff.com, sendspace.com or napster, people are moving quickly to hear Nyce, as his mixtape has quickly generated 4 out of 5 star ratings, and over thousands of listens and downloads. Nyce describes it as “all-around fire! It’s a classic, 24 joints, a lot of music and versatility, different flows, catchy hooks…its not your regular mixtape, it’s more like an album. Dudes is putting out mixtapes that sound like mixtapes. This mixtape sounds like an album.” Nyce is now working on a new mixtape CD/DVD package with the album coming soon after. He’s also working with a young group called Natural Born Killers (NBK), consisting of Nyce, Lyfe and KG. When he’s not on the grind in Queens, you can also catch Nyce working with Southside Mafia and Filthy from Dallas, Texas. When asked what Nyce wanted to tell the listeners, he simply stated “just know that I work hard and its nothing but consistency, consistent hits, and we always got fire! I’m all about music and grindin’ hard. Plus my style is not one-dimensional, I’ll sound different in each song the way I switch my flow up. So I just keep on bangin’ out those hits and hope that the people support.” http://www.myspace.com/nycedafuture |
