One Silver Astronaut is a community of ambitious, hopeful artists and musicians attempting to create something beautiful together. This Los Angeles-based band is striving to trademark its own brand of “orchestral indie pop,” by incorporating a refreshing blend of violin, brass, and glockenspiel, along with traditional rock instruments. Working with engineer/co-producer David Newton (The Little Ones, The Soft Pack, The Henry Clay People, The Happy Hollows), they’ve recently completed their third disc, We Are Melting Now (with Heaviness), thanks in large part to the success of 2008’s The Research EP and one of its tracks, “Band-Aid for a Fracture,” finding its way onto the CW’s hit TV show Gossip Girl. Along with frequenting the stages of many of L.A.’s storied venues, One Silver Astronaut has taken to the road the last two summers playing and garnering modest followings in the great U.S. cities of Amarillo, Portland, Seattle, and San Francisco. More of the same is planned for this industrious outfit, with sights set on an eventual European escapade. They surge ahead at full speed in their quest to craft imperfect, quirky, contemplative, independent pop songs that are pure of heart, of sound mind, and explore the soul. |
