Otto Dix is a Russian pseudogothic band originating from Khabarovsk (far east of Russia). Utilizing dark operatic vocals and electronic melodies, their music contains elements of synthpop, EBM, classical music. Noted for their androgynous vocalist and extremely dramatic, elaborate live performances, they have quickly become one of the most controversial artists in Russia and across the world. The band formed in November 2004, and consists of three members: Michael Draw (vocals, lyrics), Marie Slip (composition and arrangement), and Petr Voronov (violin). Occasionally, Otto Dix performs with a standalone art-group ‘Theatre: The paradigm of time’, but the troupe is separate from band. Currently, the group have released five albums, the latest of which, ’ Зона Теней’ (Shadow Zone) was released in 2009. All of their music is available only in Russia, except for the debut European release “Starost” which gathered songs from their first three Russian albums. |
