Ankledeep in organic, wobbling synthesizer marshes, deep down in the machine room where blueprints are being shaped, transformed, chopped and rebuild. Slow thuds, mid rotations, high vibrancies. Black shadow orchids spill out their grains to become flamboyant melodies, keys, strings, harps, celli, guitars, weaving them into a lush orchestration. And finally her warm, husky voice that guides you through the misty tales.
Panic Girls’ addiction to form and manipulate soundscapes began when she was a little child. After 20 years of growing unerringly into an audio junkie, synthesizer geek, studio nerd, instrument stockpiler, anything and anyone sampler, tangible multi-touch interface devotee, sound designer and singer she now decided to release her very own downbeat sound with the debut EP „Burn And Rise“.
Martha Plachetka alias Panic Girl was born 1981 in Germany with polish and silesian roots. She dedicated her life to music at the age of eight. After having learned to play the piano, the guitar and having trained her singing skills for some years she joined several bands. Besides that she couldn’t resist to get her hands on any instrument nearby and jammed with or on it right away joining any musicians who could bare to listen. Later on she attended university to study German Philology and History but dropped out soon, knowing that she couldn’t do without music as a main part of her life. She decided to receive training as an audio engineer and got her career started in 2002. The way led her to several jobs as a remixer, vocal engineer, music producer, broadcast engineer and eventually audio lecturer.|But besides these activities it has always been a vital part for Panic Girl to express herself in downbeat productions. She is known to be a true hard- and software geek. You cannot move around her flat without stumbling over stuff like a Marxophone, Doepfer, Stylophone, Virus or other strange musical devices or noise machines. Her friends also reckon that listening to her private playlists is quite an experience. She has a broad and diverse range of influences including 70s Psychedelic Rock, Progressive Metal, Classical Music, Drum’n’Bass, Stoner Rock, Hip Hop and some film scores.|Martha currently works and lives in Munich.
