Founded in the beginning of 2002 in Porto Alegre (capital of Brazil’s southernmost state), Pata de Elefante are an instrumental power-trio band heavily influenced by the likes of Dick Dale and The Ventures, stretching to Funkadelic and The Meters and reaching The Band, Jimi Hendrix and Cream. The band is formed by Gabriel Guedes and Daniel Mossmann — two guitar players who also play bass, swapping instruments during gigs — and the drummer Gustavo ‘Prego’ Telles. Their studio records so far are Pata de Elefante (2004) and Um Olho no Fósforo, Outro na Fagulha (2007), both released through the indie Brazilian label Monstro Discos. A new album (no title confirmed) has been recorded during 2009 and should be released in early 2010. |
