n an industry where Hip-Hop acts come and go, Marcus Moody pka PAYPA, is aggressively working to secure his place among the genre’s greats. Originally from Chicago, yet dividing his time back and forth to Moreno Valley aka “Tha Murda”, PAYPA will tell you that he “just kind of fell in the music game.” This doesn’t make his passion for it any less, in fact the opposite occurred. It was his younger brother who had dreams of being a star, but after his passing in 1999 due to lengthy illness, PAYPA’s commitment to music and his brother’s legacy only became stronger.
Friend and fellow rapper Nipsey Hussle declares that, “PAYPA sounds like Chicago 2010,” while another close supporter says, PAYPA reminds her of “no one but has a sound that feels fun and familiar.”

Like fellow Chicagoan, Kanye West, PAYPA refuses to be boxed-in. “I’m getting a lot of recognition for my diversity, and the ability to work in many different lanes artistically,” he says. One listen to his infectious song, the “2-14,” and listeners are taken back to the best of what the 80s New Wave-dance genre provided. With its usage of Kraftwerk’s classic single, “Numbers,” it is a song that would make fans of Andre 3000 proud.| |
