Perspects is the primary project of Detroit-based musician, producer and multimedia artist Ian Clark. Following some initial formative development at the local art college, various bedrooms, warehouse parties, and art dives, his first official releases appeared through Detroit’s influential Ersatz Audio label. First as Lesseninglesson, then as a founding member of Le Car, and finally Perspects. After making appearances on a variety of labels - such as Clone, Suction, Ghostly International and others - and a brief collaboration with vocalist Mark Erwin, Perspects came to rest at longtime friend Brendan M. Gillen’s cult label, Interdimensional Transmissions. Perspects utilizes the human voice, tapes, electro-acoustic percussion and analog sequences to create a dense, propulsive music perfectly attuned to the pains of a culture which has outgrown its body.| |
