Pierce the Veil albums
Pierce the Veil, formerly known as Before Today, are a post-hardcore band from San Diego, California. Pierce the Veil were formed in the fall of 1998 under the name Early Times. After recording an EP titled Roots Beneath Ideals, they signed to Equal Vision. Due to copyright issues, the band released their next album, A Celebration of An Ending, under the name Before Today, which was taken from the title of a song off No Turning Back, an EP released under Early Times. The album contained re-recordings of three of the songs from Roots Beneath Ideals and was recorded at DoubleTime Studios in El Cajon, California with Jeff Forrest. In the fall of 2006, brothers Victor Fuentes and Mike Fuentes changed the band’s name from Before Today to Pierce the Veil, which was a song title featured on their prior album. They also displaced Joe Tancil and Mitchell Ballatore from the band. The lineup has since consisted of Vic (lead vocals, lead & rhythm guitars, keys, production) and Mike Fuentes (drums, backing vocals), Jaime Preciado (bass, programming, backing vocals), and Tony Perry (guitars, backing vocals). Mike is a self-taught drummer who has been playing the drums for years, and he raps on his hip hop side-project called MikeyWhiskeyHands, for which Jaime produces the instrumentals. Re-signing to Equal Vision, they released their second album, A Flair for the Dramatic, on June 26, 2007. “I’d Rather Die Than Be Famous” was featured in the game, Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground. In November 2007, Pierce the Veil performed on one date of the Vans Warped Tour, and they were on the whole tour in 2008. They also played Bamboozle Left in 2008. Their first headlining tour, “The Delicious Tour”, which was during October and November of 2008, featured Breathe Carolina, Four Letter Lie, and Emarosa. They were on the Taste of Chaos tour in 2009 along with Bring Me The Horizon, Thursday, Four Year Strong, and Cancer Bats. Vic and Mike Fuentes confirmed to be included in the new project and supergroup, Isles & Glaciers, featuring Craig Owens and Jonny Craig. Pierce the Veil often mix in popular hip hop/rap and pop songs into their own songs during live performances. For example, they often start “Yeah Boy And Dollface” with “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)” and “Currents Convulsive” with “My Life (feat. Lil Wayne)”. Pierce the Veil have also stated that they were the first to do a remake of “Beat It” before Fall Out Boy performed and made a music video for it. Pierce the Veil is featured on the Vans Warped Tour 2010 from June 25th to August 15th. They released their third album, Selfish Machines, on June 21, 2010.
