Born and raised in the sleepy town of Stratford-Upon-Avon, England - 17-year-old singer/songwriter Portia Conn has always had her sights set on breaking out. “Even my very first songs were about leaving, playing shows and realising there is more out there than just your home town,” she admits. At just 16, her whimsical pop musings caught the attention of two labels - LAB Records (UK) and Tragic Hero Records (US) to whom she signed a worldwide deal in the Summer of 2009 having played 3 shows ever. Her debut single, the incessant ‘I Don’t Care,’ was recorded by Julian Bowen (The Auteur, MiMi Soya, Lost On Campus) and is released through the labels on February 2nd - and is supported by the beautifully sombre, better-than-a-b-side, ‘Sandwich Shop.’ Her debut EP follows in Summer 2010, so remember the name - this ambitious teenager is sure to be reaching venues and radio stations near you over the next 12 months. | |
