Radu is the name for at least two musical projects. There is the euro dance musician [1] Radu, and the audio visual project of two Dutchmen; [2] Radu by Raoul Santos and Durk Kooistra.
[1] Radu was born on 14th December 1978 in Peresechina not far from the town Orhei. In nursery school he was an arrogant child, however Radu could be naughty, because of the fact that his mother was a teacher in that nursery school. In the school girls were always near him because he sang for them, and so he would get a kiss; if he sang them a song. Radu’s love to music was showing when he was ten years old and he got a guitar from his father. He studied at a music school, where he learnt to play the piano and the guitar, however because they had to move because of his father’s job, Radu didn’t finish studying and so he got educated in a normal high school. After the final exams, he worked with his father at a disco and he also worked as a school DJ. In 1998 his particular field of work were vocals and opera. After that he began learn in the Institute that established his parents, “Artshow”. He began to write his own songs and he found the Russian rock band “Zenith”, which he joined after two years. In 2001 he joined the dance/pop band O-Zone (Famous for Dragostea Din Tei (The Numa Numa). O-Zone’s career took speed with their top hit Dragostea Din Tei. It was Number 1 in all charts across Europe in 2004. In January 2005 the band left the scene, but the song was still successful in Japan.
Radu told the world about his marriage with Ana and he announced they we going to have a child. On July the 1st Anastasia Dalia was born. Radu described his daughter - “She looks like both of us - she took the best pieces from us!”
In summer 2005 he produced an album with his friend Mahay and he helped with the song “Dulce”. At this current time Radu works on his solo-career with name “RadU”. Radu can play the piano and drums, but his favourite instrument is the guitar, which he uses a lot in his album: “ALONE” (2006).
[2] The project of Durk Kooistra and Raoul Santos, both students at the NPAC studying Sound Design in Utrecht, Holland.
RaDu is an audio visual project where Raoul and Durk emphasize on the perception of both sound and vision by focusing on what is closest to us, the human element of perception, personifying it by featuring either a deaf or a blind person as their main character.
