Rene Gonzalez, Associate Professor (Classical Guitar), received B.M., M.M., and D.M.A. degrees from the University of Miami. Gonzalez presents lectures and recitals in public schools and performs for educational and chamber music groups, including duo recitals with Juan Mercadal. He has appeared throughout the southeastern United States and Puerto Rico, and has accompanied classical singer Victoria De Los Angeles. Gonzalez is also the founder of the professional classical guitar ensemble, The Ruck Ensemble.|****************************************************************************

Biography:|Born and raised in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. |Protege of world renowned Classical Guitarist Juan Mercadal, and now head of the University of Miami�s Classical Guitar Program, Dr. Gonzalez has performed with symphony and chamber orchestra�s all over the world. His education includes a Doctorate from the University of Miami (Florida). He has authored “The Advancing Classical Guitarist” Volumes 1 & 2,|and the “The Romantic Guitarist” Level 2. His CD |“The Hummingbird” has received rave reviews and acclaim.|Most recently Dr. Gonzalez has been performing around the United States in concerts with Flutist Robert Billington. |
