Robert’s background is a multi-national affair with his Father from England and Mother from Norway. He was born in England and is now living in Holland, the country that has most influenced his musical style. Holland is renowned for its Dance Music scene. His first production with Dave Masters, “Masters & Nickson - 5th Dimension” was first picked up by Dutch legend Armin van Buuren who subsequently gave the listening world their first taste of Robert when he played “5th Dimension” on his weekly ID&T radio show “A State of Trance”. Armin loved the tune so much that he signed it to his Armada label, where it then went on to rock the dance floors of numerous clubs across the globe. It featured on many compilations such as Godskitchen Worldwide. He is modest in his approach and his dedication is unnerving. His own very high standards ensure that his productions are sure to set the dancefloor on fire. With this he has earned the respect of his fellow producers. Robert’s remix list grows longer by the week. His remix of “Endre - Kallocain” is such an example, and is featured on compilation after compilation. Robert’s collaborations with Perry O’Neil under the guises “True Form” and “Mind” have brought a fresh sound to the masses and keep them praying for more. Robert’s work is not going unnoticed by those at the top either and there’s no better sign of how well things are going, than getting the support of artists such as Armin van Buuren, Scott Bond, Lange and Paul van Dyk who continue to support the work that he does. 2005 certainly was not a year for standing still as far as Robert Nickson was concerned. Robert’s gig list grew quicker than anything he had ever dreamed of and his air miles balance certainly looks healthy now. 2005 saw Robert visit countries all over the world and rocking the dancefloors from London to LA, Sydney to San Francisco. Not bad going for a 23 year old who still continues to study hard at college in between DJing and producing some of the hottest trance tunes around. It’s this commitment that is helping him win many friends within the industry. Robert’s DJing style is still the same as his productions, beautiful trance that holds the crowd and whisks them into frenzy. Robert’s energy behind the turntables is electric and you can be sure that wherever he spins the crowd will not be standing still. The year 2006 had a great start for Robert production wise, with “Close your Eyes” storming the clubs and getting massive support from all the usual suspects, along with a co-production with Thomas Datt set for release, the ground has well and truly been hit running. With new productions on the way with other well known producers on the horizon, you can be sure that you will be hearing a lot more of Robert throughout the coming months. Make seeing Robert spin a top priority for 2007 and you won’t be disappointed.| |
