The group was formed by Rodolfo Abrantes (vocals), former Raimundos member who became into an evangelical Christian and left the band “for faith reasons”. He started the band named “Rodox” (his nickname) with his friend Bob (turn-tables and electronic effects) at BrasÃlia. The band only became real during the shooting of the video of “Olhos Abertos” Rodox relased two records: “Estreito” and “Rodox” , a mix of hardcore, new metal and electronic allied to powerful and positive lyrics. As much as Rodox could be tagged as Christian Rock Band, Rodolfo was the only christian of the band. Several members joined the band during its existence, as Fernando (drums), former Los Hermanos Patrick Laplan and Canisso, former bandmate of Rodolfo on Raimundos. The first album, “Estreito”, became a major hit into both Christian and Mainstream audiences, as singles like “Olhos Abertos” and “Dia Quente” got good airplay and heavy rotation on MTV. Also it was some kind of “testimonial” of your life with God. The second album, “Rodox”, was a lesser hit, but was more heavier and hardcore-like record than “Estreito”. Songs like “De Costas para o Mar” went good on radios and MTV. The band disbanded around 2004. As many reasons pointed, was that Rodolfo couldn’t make his Christian faith became predominant inside the band. Other was that he fulfilled his contract with Warner and had left the band. Rodolfo later released an worship album, “Santidade ao Senhor”, and still doing his preaching around Brazil. The other members are into other bands. |
