Meet the Roe-Deer, one of the leading bands on the czech guitar scene. They are just four introvert guys who enjoy to play the music they like echoing their best musical influences… |Their 4th album in the row is called simply TAKE. Take it or leave it. This brand new album released by EMI in October 2006 continues the great success of the single 2nd Floor Boy that made into some of the most important czech radio charts. You’ll recognize their specific style of songwriting on this record. Straight beats and unique vocals create the atmosphere of midnight-velvet melancholic moods. |The live act success of the band is opening for the Franz Ferdinad’s show (2004), Sneaker Pimps’ (2003), Low’s or Chikinki’s (2005). They play more than 50 gigs a year, including shows in Germany and Austria. |The band is based on the creativity of singer and composer Andrzej and the bassist and composer …mity, supplied by the beats of Mára on drums and Adam’s fairy-tale guitar feedbacks. |TAKE. |EXTENDED BIOGRAPHY… The band was established in summer 1999 by SMITY - bass guitar, EMA BRABCOVA - vocal and keyboard. Some songs appears on Rolling Stone compilation. Roe-Deer supported bands like LOW and LAIKA and the new guitarist FILIP MISEK joined the band. In the autumn 2001 ROE-DEER released the debut album EVERFOREVER and played many gigs and festivals around the Czech Republic. The album and live gigs were well acclaimed by the critics that called the band “czech Portishead”. Then ROE-DEER inclined to more guitar sound and EMA with FILIP founded the band KHOIBA which is oriented rather to the slower electronic music. In the spring 2003 was released the second album AQUAPARTY with the hit single APPLE-SAUCE SONG. That year ROE-DEER opened for the SNEAKER PIMPS in the ROXY club and became one of the most demanded bands on the biggest czech and slovakian music festivals. The band played some gigs in Germany as well. At the end of the year 2003 EMA and FILIP left ROE-DEER and from this point it starts the new epoch in the history of the band. New singer and guitarist ANDRZEJ PALEC (ex SICK MODELS) joined the band at the beginning of the year 2004 and they started to work on the new songs together. Their first single called THE STRANGLERS became at once the hit on some independent radio stations, the single was also released on the compilation of magazine Ultramix and on the soundtrack for the film “The strong coffee” (coproduction Island-Czech Republic). From the March to the December 2004 the band played nearly 40 gigs around all the Czech Republic and some gigs in Germany. In the fall of the August Roe-Deer opened for Franz Ferdinand (sold-out show in Roxy) and at the beginning of the October 2004 the band realeses the brand new album “LOLLIPOP” followed by the tour with Southpaw (CZ). The album was acclaimed warmly both by the critics and by the audience. Some personal changes happened. Other singles taken from this album were: INCLUDING ME and VERTIGO (both accompained by the low budget videos). In the 2005 the tour for the Lollipop still goes on (nearly 50 gigs in CZ and another in Germany) and the band works hard on the new songs for the next album. In the course of the 2005 ADAM VONES (guitar) and MAREK KLASNA (drums) join the band and from this moment thank goodness the line-up seems to be the final one. These days the band signed to EMI Escape, upcoming album is preceded by the new single 2nd floorboy (produced by prominent J.P.Muchow - Ecstasy of Saint Theresa) released on the new label. The band chooses Martin Ledvina and Sebastien Richard as the producers for their upcoming album which they record during the summer 2006. The title of the new album is TAKE and will be released by the end of the september 2006. New album release party will také place on 4th October in Prague, Akropolis.
