A Sentinel is a guardsman. In our view, a Sentinel should protect and bring forth the positiveness in every individual being out there. Musical pleasure, excitement and passion is what Sentinel stands for as a reggae soundsystem. Being founded end of 1998 in Stuttgart, Germany, the soundsystem has experienced many different stages of musical quality when it comes to Reggae and Dancehall. Foremost, the most essential part of a Sentinel show is to give the crowd what they are longing for and therefore it is very important that there is a certain musical and lyrical mutual understanding between the MC of the soundsystem and the massive. The crowd needs to respond to the tunes that are being played and it is the aim of Sentinel to make the people understand what the lyrics mean and thus give them access to the whole thing as our interpretation of jamaican soundsystem culture.|Sentinel is being booked every weekend for up to two shows in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, UK, Belgium or Italy. They made their first big impact on the international Dancehall Scene in September 9, 2003, when the german reggae magazine RIDDIM chose Sentinel as the representative for germany to compete against three other international namebrand sounds in the RIDDIM Soundclash in Munich, Germany. Although Sentinel went second place after the world sound Killamanjaro, they managed to defeat the triple World clash Winner Blackkat and the widly respected foundation sound Downbeat the Ruler out of New York City. From this point on there was no more stopping for Sentinel and only two weeks later they managed to defeat Turbo Force from Kingston Jamaica in a soundclash right in Kingston. As the first mainland-european sound to have a clash in Jamaica overall, they did what no one expected it could come true: Sentinel killed Turbo Force, a true jamaican sound, musically in this yardstyle-like fight right in front of an all-jamaican audience. One year later Germany had the opportunity to reach the long awaited dream of every soundboy: In a vast 4 hour soundclash Sentinel defeated Soundquake, also one of Germany´s top soundsystems on November 11th 2004 in the Champions Clash in Erlangen GER what took them finally to their current position as the number one clashing soundsystem in Germany!|Also due to this fact Sentinel was invited by Irish & Chin, the most active and successful promoter in the soundclash scene, to compete in the notorious World Clash, the ultimate and the most prestiguous soundwar event on earth on October 8, 2005. Since they only had exactly one month time to gather dubplate specials for this clash facing well known and more experienced opponents like Mighty Crown (JAP), Bass Odyssey (JA) or Blackkat (JA) their ratings looked rather sticky before the clas took place. But against all odds, Sentinel took the biggest and greatest title in the soundsystem business in a vast 4-hour soundwar and defeated Panther of Blackkat in the tune fi tune. Once again, it´s history in the making, because the Everlasting Sound is to be the first World Champion coming from the european continent ever! But still, more foreign territory remains to be conquered! The whole Carribbean, UK, Italy, Spain, France, Sky is the Limit! In continuing this crusade, Sentinel will take part in the greatest soundclash in Europe, the UK Cup Clash London on April 8th 2006.|Sentinel has been travelling and working in the world of reggae music from their founding days and is known from Kingston, New York to London to be a very ambitious and successfull soundsystem. They work with prestigious artists like Beres Hammond, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, Sizzla, Capleton, Bounty Killer or Beenie Man, not for just one time, but on a longtime relationship.|But not only the art of soundclashing is what makes up the true Sentinel. They are also busy promoting an own 2-day Reggae Festival in Stuttgart called “Reggae Summer” (2000-2004), which featured artists like Stone Love (JA), Killamanjaro (JA), Red Rat & Buccaneer, Cecile (JA) in the past and had a turnout with more than 1500 people attending the shows. Sentinel´s residency “Kingston Hot” in Stuttgart is the hottest place for Dancehall and Reggae music in southern Germany without a doubt. With national and international artists and sounds passing through within the last five years, the monthly event has gained nationwide respect from both the crowd, the media and the artists themselves. Moreover, Sentinel is known to produce a very popular serie of mixed CDs called “Sentinel Dancehall Mixes” that features one Roots and Culture Mix and one Hardcore Dancehall Mix every year since 2000. The CDs feature the best music from the last months, upcoming releases as well as deadly dubplate specials, packed in a state-of-the-art mix.
