1. Being in the music world for over a decade now, there is no other voice that quite compares to that of Marvin Scandrick III PKA “Slim”. Music has always been apart of his life. Although his first passion was completely different, the path he chose was definitely the right one. “Airplanes and being a pilot is what I was interested in.” says, Slim, “I was ALWAYS great in school, straight A’s, advanced placement, you know, a real book worm, singing was just a part of our life.” Brought up in a strict and very religious household, Gospel music was the only thing he could listen to. R&B music was just another way to express his talents especially at local talent shows and church events. Born and raised in Atlanta and living a very animated life, may have a lot to do with the reason why Slim is an 8 time ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) winner. “Many situations, mine or others are what inspire me to write, that’s how many of my CLASSICS are made!” There is no doubt that his “classics” have made it on the “Top 100” charts, Billboard Charts & have won many prestigious awards for himself & the artist albums he’s affiliated with. With the success that his group 112 has had in the past years, it is no different that his success as a Solo Artist will be the same. Currently Slim is working on his solo album, “Loves Crazy” which is anticipated to come out in 2008. There are many well known producers, rappers & singers that are very excited to work on his new project. “A new fresh sound w/ a lot of swagger is what I’m on. I’ve always been a gentleman of R&B, a classy type guy who’s all about making the fans happy! Lately we have been getting off track on trying to romance the ladies…” says, Slim. Дымовая завеса Музыкой Вадим начал увлекаться ещё 1993 году, с прослушивания альбомов таких рэп-групп и исполнителей, как Public Enemy, Run-D.M.C., Ice T, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube. В конце 1996 вместе с Lexus’ом создаёт группу Дымовая завеса. В команде занял ведущее место: писал тексты, делал музыку в треках. В 2000 году у группы выходит дебютный альбом «Без контрацепции…». Он и дал толчок Слиму, в начале 2003 выходит «Вы хотели правды?». Этот альбом продвинул группу на региональный уровень. Сразу начинается работа над следующим альбомом, который вышел в 2004 году, «Взрывное устройство». При записи альбома, Слим познакомился с Гуфом, это знакомство послужило причиной для создания группы CENTR. Но уже после того, как Вадим начал посвящать себя новому проекту, в конце 2006 года выходит новый альбом Завесы «Этажи»! После чего проект “Дымовая Завеса” был заморожен на неопределённое время. Centr После выхода альбома «Этажи», Слим практически полностью посвятил себя написанию первого альбома группы CENTR, вместе с Guf’ом, Птахой и Принципом, который вышел 25 октября 2007 года под названием «Качели». Группа сразу же стала популярна на всех уголках территории России и СНГ. За песню «Город Дорог» группа стала победителем MTV Russia Music Awards 2008 в категории «хип-хоп». В 2008 году вышел второй альбом «Эфир в норме», в котором затронуты темы наркотиков, московских улиц и милиционеров. В 2009 году группа CENTR распалась, так как ее покинул Гуф, разругавшийся со Slim’om и Птахой. В группе остались Slim и Птаха. В сентябре 2009 года вышел сольный альбом “Холодно” и клип на одноименный трек. |
