Superbug’s formation in January 2009 was a whirlwind since a US tour had been booked to start in less than 6 months from the first jam. The band went into high gear to write, record, and release a 7-song EP, The Buzzzzz, so that they’d have songs to play and promote on tour. Although this series of events occurred opposite the norm, it provided Superbug with a quick fan base and momentum to keep refining their sound. After 7 months of gigging and writing new tunes, Superbug enlisted the talents of keyboardist, Kevin Hammer. With Kevin, the band found a more diverse sound palette to draw from and started producing the first 6 tracks featured on the new release, Closer to the Brain.
