The Ads | When two life long friends come together and add in two neighbourhood musicians to form a band, you know there is an immediate bond created, simply due to shared experiences. Two years down the line, Kemy, Matty, Murphy and Dave are ready to take their message to the world. The Ads are simply a four-piece band from the outskirts of Glasgow getting down to some serious musical invention.|They are due to release their first single, Autopilot, on King Tuts Recordings on August 6th. This is on the back of an impressive set of live performances which included a handful of Club NME dates. Next they will make their festival debut, although slightly belated, at the year’s launch of Connect Festival in Inverary Castle at the close of August.
It is common for bands to struggle to get a foot in the door with the music press, however, The Ads have had the envious position of being courted by some of the biggest influencers on the Scottish and National scene. Radio 1 - both Colin Murray (who chose it as Single of The Week) and Zane Lowe in particular; NME; Element magazine; XFM Scotland, The Scotsman and The Sunday Herald have all been impressed by what is being produced by the band. Add to this the support of Big Life Management and Keren McKean you end up with a flyer of a start.
To describe their music in words does not do the energy, invention and strength of lyrics justice. The Ads are a band to be listened to and enjoyed rather than trying to work out where they sit on the music genre ladder. As all good bands should be, they play their hearts and souls out to engage the audience in the feelings and emotions which burst through in the songs plus The Ads members and crew deliver a five star performance in attitude. This aside, the actual music draws from post punk influences, rock and roll and the good old Scottish grit which keeps propelling Scotland to the forefront of popular music, again and again.
The Ads recently supported Snow Patrol on the scottish dates of their “A Hundred Millions Suns” tour.
