The Coral are a British band formed in 1996 from Meols on the Wirral (near Liverpool) that play an unusual style of music mixing psychedelic pop/rock, old fashioned country, folk music and modern rock. Their music is often used in the soundtrack to TV adverts and programmes making their music well known even though the band itself is still outside of the mainstream. Although they have a fan base in the North American market, and a rather large following in their home country, they have yet to achieve a mainstream audience. The Coral have released 4 full-length albums - their self titled debut in 2002The Coral, Magic and Medicine, The Invisible Invasion and their most recent Roots and Echoes as well as a mini-album Nightfreak and the Sons of Becker. The first three albums were produced by The Lightning Seeds singer/songwriter Ian Broudie. The Invisible Invasion was produced by Portishead mainstays Geoff Barrow and Adrian Utley. Their music has been featured on the television show Scrubs. The Coral are signed to the Deltasonic record label along with other acts, generally from or based in Liverpool, such as The Zutons, The Dead 60s and The Basement. |
