”It’s the same concept as our lyrics, ‘emeralds hold no hope’, and many many others. What we believe it to mean is that possessions don’t matter at all and someday everyone will realize that this is true. When standing before God, He won’t care about your sweet Prada scarf or Gucci shoes or whatever. It’s a Christian reasoning for the name, we didn’t name it to attempt at being fashionable or whatever.” During a recent interview with East Coast Romper, the band has claimed Underoath and Still Remains as their major influences. The Devil Wears Prada’s new album, titled ”Plagues”, was released on August 21, 2007. A demo song called “Hey John, What’s Your Name Again?” was placed on MySpace on July 1, 2007. This song was later to be released as a single and it’s video debuted on MTV2 November 2nd, 2007. As of January 2009, The Devil Wears Prada announced that they had started work on the follow up album for ‘Plagues’. They have said that this album ‘could quite possibly be the heaviest TDWP yet.’ During their 2008 tour, The Devil Wears Prada began playing “I Hate Buffering” to live audiences. Vocalist Mike Hranica said, ”We’re really excited for this album. It’s definitely going to be darker, heavier, and more epic. Expect a much heavier, more metal record.” Drummer Daniel Williams states that the new album will be wilder and crazier containing parts that repeat, like choruses, and James Baney says that the new album will be more mechanical, but still containing their same distinct style. With Roots Above and Branches Below entails a more aggressive and steady vocal style than in the two previous albums. On their “Sweet Brag Tour,” the band offered a download card for the songs “Dez Moines” and “Assistant to the Regional Manager”. On May 5/2009 the band’s third album entitled ”With Roots Above And Branches Below” was released. It peaked at #11 on the US Billboard Top 200 with 31,000 records sold in the first week, and #1 on the Top Christian, Hard Rock and Independent albums charts.
