The Victorian English Gentlemens Club is a cranky Artrock band hailing from Cardiff, Wales. The punky group’s first single was a limited-edition “The Tales of Hermit Mark”/”My Son Spell Backwards” on White vinyl. Double A-side “Amateur Man”/”Ban the Gin” followed that summer. The Victorian English Gentlemans Club added to the anti-emo sentiment currently taking their native United Kingdom by storm thanks to the growing popularity of The Horrors and Blood Red Shoes. They’ve released a self-titled debut album; the first single “Impossible Sightings Over Shelton” debuted at number ten on the UK Indie Singles Chart its first week out. In the last two years they have performed in three forests, two churches and one circus. They collectively enjoy: effects pedals, Sonic Youth, bells, taxidermy seagulls, yellow mackintoshes, distortion, bonsai, black gaffer tape, bone and ivory dominoes and Wire. The second album, ‘Love on An Oil Rig’ is out on 7th September 2009 on This Is Fake DIY Records/ Flower Shop Recordings. The first single is released on 6th July, Parrot, on Ltd 7” Heavyweight Yellow Vinyl. | |
