This Song Is a Mess but So Am I was the pseudonym of musician Freddy Ruppert, who hails from Los Angeles, California, United States. Heavily influenced by 1980’s gothic industrial and his fanatic obsession with Morrissey and The Smiths, formed in 2004 This Song Is a Mess But So Am I was built on a dynamic of brutally honest, revealing lyrics and a strong combination of noise, experimental and electronic genres, to name but a few. Ruppert ended the project after three years in May 2007, feeling that the project had served its purpose in helping him to deal with his mother’s death. Ruppert intends to stay musically active - most recently, he has been working with Jamie Stewart of Xiu Xiu and Nika Roza Danilova of Zola Jesus on a synth pop project Former Ghosts. http://www.myspace.com/thissongisamessisdead |
