(1) Tuscadero USA - was an indie rock band from Washington, DC, one of the most prominent on the Washington-based TeenBeat Records roster. The band, which took its name from the Happy Days character Leather Tuscadero, crafted a blissful pop punk influenced by girl groups and the pop culture of its members’ 1970s childhoods. Formed in late 1993, Tuscadero released several 7” singles, an album, and an EP on TeenBeat before signing to Elektra Records in 1995.
Tuscadero were also featured on the “All Over Me” Soundtrack with “Game Song”
Although the band broke up in 1999, they reunited in February 2005 for a one-off performance at TeenBeat’s twentieth anniversary celebration.
(2) Tuscadero Australia - is an alt country rock band from Adelaide, South Australia. Formed in late 1998 from the ashes of seminal local outfit, Happy Patch (1988-1998), the band performed for several years under various line-up, always including core songwriting trio Dale Govett (vocals), Christos Dimitropoulos (guitar) and Duane de Gruchy (bass and vocals).
No released material exists from the band itself, but Tuscadero featured on several compilation albums, plus the soundtrack for Hugh Sullivan’s award winning short film, “Man Janson” (2005). The band split in 2006 to pursue other projects but then reformed in 2009 with drummers Rob Eyers and then Jason Sifis. The band continues to perform live in Melbourne and Adelaide with (now) full time pedal steel player Pete Miller.
