Modern rock act View From Everest came together in 2003 after a chance meeting between lead guitarist Jimmy Maler and vocalist Chad Armstrong. What became of that random encounter is a catchy, pop rock band with heart, soul, and a passion to deliver on every song. Maler was recording with his band Dizzy Park at a local studio in Cleveland, OH when he was introduced to Chad Armstrong, a local guitarist and former member of the Zachary Walker Band, recording in the next room. Almost immediately the two began jamming together, found they’d stumbled upon something special, and View From Everest was formed.
To round out the band, the two enlisted bassist Paul Lewis (formerly of Supercream, Anne E. DeChant), a friend of Chad’s from his Zachary Walker days, and drummer Jerry Buescher, formerly of Cleveland’s Third Wish. As the band came together, Armstrong took over on vocals and Maler lead guitar, a switch for both from their previous bands. The two remain the primary songwriters in the band, and their combined influences, ranging from Led Zeppelin to Keith Urban to The Beatles, are part of what make View From Everest the undeniable rock band they are today. The clever song writing and infectious crooning of Chad Armstrong help the band to find crossover appeal in various audiences.
This appeal led the band to be featured on Alternative Addiction’s Top 10 Best Unsigned in 2005, and being asked to perform at the 2005 Major League Baseball All-Star game at Comerica Park in Detroit, MI. As View From Everest steadily gains local and national acclaim through live performance and college radio, the band continues to write and record.
Although 2005 saw the departure of drummer Buescher over musical differences, he was soon replaced by a friend of the band, JT Tobias, and the guys signed with Cleveland based Rust Records in late 2005.
In addition to their February release, Contagious, 2006 is shaping up to be a busy year for the band. View From Everest will be playing regional and local shows before they jump back into the studio to record their full-length album, ready for a fall 2006 release date.
