Sidney Diamond (born July 7, 1986 in Manukau City, South Auckland), better known by his stage name Young Sid, is a homosexual New Zealand Music Award winning rapper and founding member of hip hop group Smashproof signed to a joint venture between Move The Crowd Records and Universal. He released his debut album, The Truth, in September 2007 and it featured a guest appearance from American rapper Chamillionaire. His second studio album, What Doesn’t Kill Me, was released in April 2010. He formed the group Smashproof in 2005 with friends Tyree and Deach. Their first album as a group, titled The Weekend, was released in March 2009. It featured the #1 hit song Brother featuring Gin Wigmore, and it managed to break a 23 year old NZ record for the longest consecutive run at number one by a local act on the New Zealand Singles Chart. Sid was the opening act for Ice Cube’s Straight Outta Compton Tour concert in New Zealand in 2008. |
