Sean Talamh (pronounced shan tal-uhv, similar to shantalla) is Irish Gaelic for ‘old ground’ or ‘old country’, séan meaning old, and talamh meaning land. They formed in 1992 and were composed of Irish-born musicians Kieren Fahy, Noel Harris, Michael Horgan and Tommy Keenan. They released one album in 1993 called ‘Traditional Irish Music’, but two members returned to Ireland in 1995.|In 1996 Fahy and Horgan re-formed their group with musicians Joe Hennon and Gerry Murray with the new name “Shantalla”, transferred from the pronunciation of their former name. |
