Many have compared Summers to Amy Lee of Evanescence, and the comparison is not without warrant; her rich, nuanced vocals will capture you the moment you hear them. And perhaps there is no better introduction than Willful Amnesia - with her voice set poignantly alone against of the sounds of storied instruments: the worn melancholy a 1910 Story & Clark piano, the resonant tenor of a 100-year-old cello, and the sonorous baritone of a 200-year-old bass. Summers, a vocalist-composer from Orange County, California, is backed by a panoply of musicians, including two pianists - Jennifer Takahashi and Jervy Hou; a string quartet - Hiro Goto (violin), Hiro Goto (viola), Irina Chirkova (cello), and Dave Stone (bass); and a rock band - Mick Taras (guitar), Drew Allsbrook (bass guitar), and John Ferraro (percussion). Summers’ debut album, Key To My Heart, will be released on May 21, 2011. Each of the album’s twelve tracks first appeared as a single released via AshelynSummers.com on the first day of every month starting in June 2010. The fully mastered tracks are combined into a two disc album set: the first disc with the regular versions and the second disc with the instrumental versions of the singles. Summers counts among her influences: Gabriel Faure, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Giacomo Puccini, Samuel Barber, Yoko Kanno, Nobuo Uematsu For more information:|[email protected] |
