Biography. A child actress turned recording artist, Belinda Peregrin Schull was born in Madrid in 1989 of mixed Spanish and French heritage, relocating with her family four years later to their permanent residence of Mexico City. Displaying a talent for singing and performing from a young age, Belinda starred in three television series for the Televisa station, the last of which, Complices al Rescate, featured a soundtrack on which she made her vocal debut. The amazing success of the series triggered an international tour and enormous album sales. Just before turning 14 she launched her CD “Belinda” became a great success in all Latin America and Spain exceeding the figure of 800,000 copies. The tour named “Fiesta En La Azotea (Party on the Flat Roof)” becomes also a huge success with more than 1,500,000 people attending the 120 live shows. She receives, among many awards, the female Record of the National Auditorium in Mexico City where she performed 12 shows of the tour with 120,000 people attending. A DVD is produced in this Auditorium named “Fiesta En La Azotea (Party on the Flat Roof)” which very quickly exceeded sales of over 100,000 units. She gathered more than 130,000 people at the Zocalo of Mexico City in a memorable live concert ending the tour of her last CD “Belinda”. Belinda has received MTV Awards, acting awards, platinum and gold CDs in different countries and has been sponsored by big companies such as LG, Office Depot and Coca-Cola. She recently also shot her first English movie with Disney, the blockbuster “Cheetah Girls 2”. Her second solo album “Utopia”, released in October 2006 by EMI Televisa, was recorded in Los Angeles, Utopia contains 13 pop songs produced and composed by some of the best of their kind, including Kara DioGuardi (Kelly Clarkson and Gwen Stefani), Jimmy Harry (Kylie Minogue and Britney Spears), Doc McKeeny (RES), Greg Kursten (Lily Allen and Pink), Lester Méndez (Santana and Shakira), and Greg Wells (Celine Dion and Elton John). In Miami, “Luz sin gravedad” is already very popular. Thanks to this, Belinda is now opening her way into the United States, playing live in different cities and releasing English versions of her songs. The new album “Carpe Diem”, will be relased on march 2010.
