Their name was formerly “Dame” but was changed to Dame Four around the time their debut video was released because of another musical act having the same name. Dame Four was brought together by TUG manager Chris Stokes, who also discovered Immature/IMx & B2K. Jamila “Mila J” Chilombo was originally signed under TUG uring the years of 1995-1997 as a member of the group GYRL, first with her sister Miyoko & play “cousin” Paulette, then with Miyoko, Jenee, & Tai-Amber. (Jenee & Tai-Amber are said to be still in the music business.) Tomasina Parrot was first recognized as B2K & most recently Omarion’s backup dancer, touring & dancing in music videos. (She can be seen in the ‘O’ video at the end in a black dress & boots, dancing with Omarion) Tennille Mathis auditioned for the now defunct R&B/Hip-Hop TG4 (Tom Girls Four, then Epiphany, they have broken up to do solo careers), a group that was also signed to TUG from late 2001 to early 2003. The musical status of Mercedes Nelson is unknown. As far as we know she is from South America & auditioned for Stokes in some form a few years ago. Dame Four’s first single/video was released in late 2005 and was entitled “How We Roll”. It was featrued on MTV, MTV2, Yahoo! and BET. The video features guest appearances by Chris Stokes himself, Marques Houston, Cory Bold, and 2Much. Their album “DAME” was set for release September 13, 2005. Dame split up not long after releasing their radio single in late 2005 titled “How We Roll”, and Jamila “Mila J” Chilombo, the lead singer, decided to go solo for 2006 with her first single “Complete” They recorded “four” songs titled : How We Roll, Never Gonna Get It, Cheating, and Maybe (feat. Chingy); All including a rap by Mila J. It is kind of ironic that Dame Four only recorded “4” songs. Retrieved from “http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dame_Four"| |
