Growing up in Houston, TX, Malloy expressed her desire to be on stage from an early age. She credits her determination to pursue this to the full support of her family. While her parents never pushed her (her Mom always wanted her to be a nurse) they were always there, while her brother, who also sang, was a source of inspiration musically. Kady Malloy’s musical tastes are vast, loving classic rock legends Led Zepplin & Queen, especially Freddie Mercury, Elton John and Billy Joel, as well as pop sensations Britney Spears and The Spice Girls. Kady always had been considered the “nerdy” girl until her voice soon began garnering attention. She gave her first public performance in 6th grade performing Faith Hill’s signature song “Breathe.” Malloy immersed herself into the school choir and opera lessons. She soon was performing at local coffee shops and when her age allowed Houston bars and clubs. Then, just for fun, she decided to try out for the hit television competition American Idol. Auditioning in Dallas in 110 degree heat, along with thousands of hopefuls, Malloy was narrowed down to a list of 30 talented performers to vie for the show. Boarding a plane for only the 2nd time in her life, Kady set out for Hollywood….a far different scene from the Houston residence where she had spent her entire life. It was here where her vocal prowess was further recognized (along with her gift to imitate many established stars including superstar Spears) landing Malloy in the top 24 contestants for the show. While the American Idol crown was not in her future, the show introduced Kady to a legion of music fans whom quickly identified with the talented songstress who is equally as personable as she is talented. Since her performance, Kady Malloy has continued her musical journey, finding her own place within the pop world and readying herself to introduce the world to the real Kady Malloy. |
