Kasia Stankiewicz is a Polish pop singer. She started her career in 1995 singing a song by Varius Manx, a multi-platinum Polish band, in the TV song contest Szansa na sukces (A Chance for Success). A few months later she actually became the lead vocalist for Varius Manx. In 1996 they recorded Ego – a 5 times platinum album. The hit singles “Orła cień”, “Ten sen” and “Mówią mi” were high in the Polish charts for months. In 1997 she recorded a platinum soundtrack for the Polish movie Nocne graffitti and her second album with Varius Manx entitled End. There were #1 singles off the album again (“Kiedy mnie malujesz”, “Najmniejsze państwo świata”, “Czy tak chcesz” “Próbujcie marzyć”) and it became platinum. In 1999 she recorded her first solo album, Kasia Stankiewicz, with soul and jazz compositions. In 2000 she recorded her last album with Varius Manx, Najlepsze z dobrych (The Best of the Good Ones), which included a few new songs, and after promoting two smash hit singles from the album (“Teraz i tu” and “Wolni w niewoli”) she decided to leave Varius Manx. In 2001 she collaborated with a Polish actor Michał Żebrowski and two other Polish vocalists in recording Lubię kiedy kobieta, a very popular album where she sang poetry. “Niepewność”, the first single from the album was a huge success. In the same year Kasia Stankiewicz recorded “The Bridge Song” with the German electronic music group Tangerine Dream. The single promoted their new album around the world. In 2003 she produced and published a new album called Extrapop. The first single “Schyłek lata” was a smash hit in Poland, and two other singles “Francuzeczka” and “Saint Etienne” were successful too. Kasia has definitely left behind a “good girl” image. Her new look is hot and sexy, and her video clips may seem a little scandalising. In the “Schyłek lata” clip she could be seen lying naked with another naked girl. Now she is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the start of her career and planning a new album. |
